Rooted in a deep, wirebrushed plank that instantly evoked the glamour and grit of the 1970s - Moody Mid-Century comes to life. The finished space captures the allure of a sophisticated 1970’s lounge - yet feels entirely contemporary. Grounded by the deep textured beauty of a warmer dark wood, it proves that bold, ambient spaces have a timeless appeal.
Leaning away from bright and light interiors, Studio Felix leaned in to something moodier, curating and giving life to a more ambient space. The flooring sample lends itself to the 1970's era, and steered the design direction towards dark browns, avocado green, burnt orange, and shiny brass. Vintage warmth reimagined for 2025.
Clean lines and era-inspired tones are elevated by unexpected details, like the inventive use of the wood flooring. Wall paneling alternates the direction of the wood grain to create a subtle checkered effect, wrapping seamlessly onto banquettes, the ceiling, and the bar, highlighting how small details can make a space.
"As designers we're not only designing a space, but we’re also keeping in mind the budget, the construction, the feasibility, the timeline, etc. But in university, we'd say, you know, it's held up by fairy dust as a joke. Because sometimes we would go full concept and not have to worry about the construction nor budget or feasibility at all. So it was super fun to step back into that university mindset for a while and design something strictly for fun and like really let our imaginations go."
